How to report bugs

We've been blessed with a very active community that takes the time to report any issues you experience on the site, so we the admins work them out as soon as possible. We like to make sure your experience on the site is fast and smooth.

However we've also noticed a clear trend in most error and but reports: most of them come in the form of "It doesn't work for me", or "Help me I can't upload anything".

While we're available during most weekdays to solve your problem, you guys and girls also have to help us help you ;-)

Here's a guide about how to report bugs and errors:

Simple Reporting

Go into the report a bug page, you will see the form, fill it out as follows:

  • Choose the reason for your report, if your reason and your description of the error don't match up we'll get a little confused and this might delay our dealing with the issue.
  • Describe your issue with as many details as possible!. Tell us where you saw the error, what did the error say? Was it an orange or a red error message? Send us the URL to the page that popped the error. What were you trying to do? Did you check the site documentation on how to do that? Is our own documentation incomplete or outdated?
  • Describe your issue with more details.
  • Seriously, add details!

Details help us pinpoint the cause of the error more quickly, sometimes in a matter of seconds, reporting your problem as "I can't download anything" will delay the solution process at least one email reply (sometimes more emails have to go back and forth before we figure out what is happening) and you're gonna get even more frustrated.

Power Reporting

If you know how to debug a web page in your browser please do the following:

  • Open your browser's web dev tools (mainly in the console tab), try to use the feature you tried when the error arised,
  • Send us any error notice you see in there along with the URL to the buggy page and more details of what you were trying to accomplish when the error popped up.

As you see, being thorough and detailed in your reports is crucial, details enable us to solve your problem sooner.

Finally, there's one more word of advice, don't ever assume somebody else must have reported the issue you're experiencing, report your problems as soon as they happen, and we will get in touch with you as soon as we find a solution or explanation about a particular problem.

I hope this is helpful to you guys and girls.
