Blendswap.com Version 2.0
Hi! This is Matthew @mofx from. This post will let you know about the HUGE update to Blendswap.com and to walk you through some of the changes to the site. The first thing I'm sure you will notice is that we have changed the layout of the site.
I think one of the first things you may notice is we will now be featuring selected models to be featured on Blendswap.com These will be chosen by me and featured on the homepage header for at least half a month, once they are removed from the header they will retain a featured sash on the model's model box indefinitely. Being featured is really easy, just upload a killer model and chances are good that your model will be featured.
Since there is quite a backlog of models on Blendswap I will be featuring models a little quicker just to get through all the models that have already been uploaded to Blendswap, but make sure that your profile is filled out since this is a great time to get some traffic to your site if your model is featured. More about the profile later.
Next you may notice that we have now integrated the login, news and profiles into the header. If you click the Log in | Register tab the panel will extend down to show you this.
So starting from left to right, first is the Latest News section, this will be where all news concerning the site will be displayed, if you click on News Archive it will take you to a complete archive of all the news from the site. Next you have Member Login, Register and Forgot you password, I think these are all pretty self explanatory. Once you login in this panel will be replaced with your user Dashboard, which will look like this.
Your Dashboard contains the Latest News, next to the latest news is your account dashboard. From here you can go to your Global Wordpress Dashboard, you can view your Blendswap Profile, Edit your Blendswap Profile and Log out. So what's your Blendswap Profile you might be asking. Well this is a new feature added to Blendswap that many people have requested.
So this is your Blendswap Profile Page. When you are logged in and click View My Profile this is what your going to see. So what does your profile page show, first it pulls all the information from the wordpress profile, Name, Registration Date, Website, Bio, and also a contact email. I'd like to talk a little about the contact email, I've set this up because there have been a number of users that have wanted to contact artist for commission based purposes.
This is the easiest way I can think of doing it, if people are going to abuse this info, the feature will be removed. The contact form is not for asking questions, or telling someone how great they are, if you want to do that use the comment forms on their models. The contact form is only for serious inquires, I'm going to state that again. THE CONTACT FORM IS ONLY FOR SERIOUS INQUIRES. ABUSE IT AND LOOSE IT. Ok, moving on, below your profile if you have added models to your favorites, this is where they will show up. Also below that is where all the models you have posted will show up.
If you have not uploaded any models to Blendswap, you will not have a Profile page, you have to share at least one model to be able to have a profile page.
So that sums up most of the major feature changes on Blendswap, but there are many more little tweeks that have been added to the site, so take some time and have a good look around, we really tried to take all your suggestions and get them worked into this version of Blendswap.com If you have any comments or if you notice some bugs please us the Contact form to let us know.
