In answer to a question from__ andywillers __I've tidied this Glitter Shader up into a simple easy to use node group.
The default settings give the result shown in the preview image although with adjustment the effect can be varied.
Group inputs:
Base Colour: The material background (Diffuse) colour.
Glitter Colour: The colour of the glittery sparkles.
Glitter Roughness: Controls the spread of the glitter effect.
Shine Roughness: The glossy roughness of the sparkles. If set to zero lamps will produce no sparkles.
Glitter Scale: Size of sparkles. low values big sparkles , high values small sparkles.
Glitter Intensity: The brightness of the sparkles values between 0.1 and 0.5 give the best results.
Glitter Density: The amount of glitter, values less than 1 give spaces with no sparkles.
Texture Coordinate: If nothing is connected Generated texture coordinates are used.
This information is also included in the .blend
Your're welcome and just in time for Christmas, go forth and model lots of REALLY NAFF decorations.
It might not be right for your scene but I've just made a couple of test animations and got much cleaner renders by disabling caustics and clamping indirect to 1.
Great tips - i'll give it a go. The sparkles really worked during some animation tests i did. Cheers!
I've tried to do something like this for some snow texture I was tinkering with. This helps out a lot, thanks for sharing!
Very nice! Christmas can come! And if we don't get snow this winter, I'll make my own! Thanks for this!
Looks useful, many thanks
