Description:

The Horten brothers had a fixed idea. Make a pure flying wing. Remove unnecessary (fuselage, tail etc...) to keep only what is necessary :)

Nice model. Although this aircraft never went into production, it is a historical reminder of the advanced aviation and rocket concepts and technologies that Germany had in those days.

For those who download the model, be aware that there are no lights, no camera, and the UV mapping is not linked to the textures. It's simple to fix (4-5 minutes), but for a Blender novice who isn't familiar with reconstructing textures to the UV maps, it may take longer.

    Hi Mattano,

    You mean this model ? : http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints-depot/ww2planes/horten/horten-iv-martin-simons.png

It is actually my Todolist. But if you visit my hangar (http://helijah.free.fr) you will find that I have maked a lot of models already. And I have to continue to evolve the old, in addition to new models.

Small correction The UV Maps are perfectly done. Simply it's Blender 2.79b and new versions of Blender are not compatible.

thanks. And yes, it's true, I never put light sources and camera. As the ultimate goal of my modeling is an simulator, this is useless for me. But I would think to do for next upload.

"the UV mapping is not linked to the textures" ? Sorry but I have no idea what this is: (

After adding lamps and a camera, the render is solid white. The UV editor shows the UV map but there are no textures in the texture properties.

To relink the textures, a user needs to add an image texture for each UV map and then under Mapping/Coordinates, change the Coordinates to UV.

Re-render and the model displays properly.

The link between the textures and UV mapping must have broken at some point because when I opened the blend file, there was only one Material (DefaultWhite) and no textures.

I should have explained what I meant more clearly in my first comment.

    AAAHHHH ok :)

In fact nothing is broken :) This is voluntarily made is because I use the rendering of the flight simulator and all this is useless for FlightGear :). I will study it with curiosity and add to my next upload :)

I hope you answer this "where did you get plan details enough to make this"? I was looking on line and saw nothing. BTW, It is beautiful and forerunner of all US stealth tech, regardless of what they otherwise say.

    Hi reidh

This is actually the most difficult, in modeling of historic aircraft. Find the right informations and plans. In France we have a magazine "AERO Journal" which gives us this very regularly. The Horten Ho IX was in the number 33 in February 2013.

    But there is also : http://alifrafikkhan.blogspot.fr/2010/05/horten-ix-horten-ho-229gotha-go-229.html http://www.afwing.com/intro/go229-1.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaJzKjtjZnY
