Hi All,
I was trying to make some decorative icing or frosting for food and thought I'd share a setup for you. In this scene, the inflow object is shaped like a star. You can think of this as a cake decorating icing tip. Make any shape you like. The star follows a path and emits fluid as it travels. The settings of the domain provide for an almost static environment although you will find that the icing drifts slightly as time passes.
The cache resolution affects the detail of the icing as can be expected, however, you don't need the highest settings to get decent results.
To use this file, selet the domain object and bake the fluid simulation.
Thats what I was thinking. Many times I have watched my mom cook and decorate cakes and stuff and many of the icing she uses is a lot smoother. But you can achieve this look in real life if you really push hard on the bag and make the icing come out faster or use thinner icing. Would like to see this on a finished cupcake or cake :)
I wouldn't say that looks much like icing (needs to be smoother), but on the other hand it looks a LOT like whipped cream from a can! Pretty cool.
