Once again I joined forces with the amazing Chris Kuhn to create this beast. He modeled it ridiculously fast, and then handled it over to me for all the texturing and rendering stuffs.
More renders on the BA thread.
NOTE: Most of the textures used are not compatible with a Creative Commons license - so no textures have been included in this blend. If you want the textures you need to download them separately (instuctions of use included): Download Textures
(This blend may or may not work in version 2.65 - try it in a newer build from builder.blender.org - I used r54428)

Written February 17, 2013I love the detail, but you haven't alined the text mesh "suzanne's regenge" properly. I think this is only a small error that you've made. Love the detail and compositing. GJ

Written February 17, 2013Not sure how long it took Chris to model it, but UVs took me about 3 days, everything else maybe 2. I've done this stuff before see ;)

Edited November 27, 2013Not quite sure what your question is but I'll take a guess... I assume you having issues with the textures. First you need to download the texture separately from the link in the model description. Once downloaded, unzip the textures, open the blend and go to File->External Data->Find Missing Files. The file manager will pop up locate the texture folder, open it and hit the find missing files button. Hope that answers your question, if not can you be more clear what the problem is. Cheers

However I can't seem to render it, have tried cpu and gpu, made sure all directories existed etc etc. Textures are all available and display properly. Preview render renders fine to completion, but final render crashes as soon as it finishes a frame with EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. Heard of this issue before with this model?
NVM, looks to be a version error / bug with blender, I went back and retried on 2.65a and it didn't crash. Gonna run up the versions and find the latest compatible.
Final edit: as of 5/23/2017 this model compiles with Blender version 2.77. As a result highest supported gpu is 980ti, no 10xx series support built in on 2.77.
Maybe has something to do with denoise (not diffuse) update coming to cycles in 2.78?
Changing of the render nodes fixed this model in Blender 2.78. I removed the two blur nodes, and color ramp nodes.

Final render looks nearly the same and improves stability.

Written August 24, 2021the texture link is actually broken but i think there is a solution; right click on your mouse then "copy the link adress" then paste it in your browser; it will download the texutres!

I do believe Greg has given me too much credit here... The warped planks were his idea (Displace modifier), and I think he did the bulk of the work. Ever try to unwrap a 400K polygon mesh? It ain't fun :)
