try highlighting all and doing a smart UV project. I've figured out it organizes your unwrapped mesh better making it easier to texture and also do an AO map
what was your ideas for materials and texturing? did you want wood, metal, crystal, combination of materials? when you modeled it what did you have on ;your mind?
