Description:

This is a simple flashlight i made just for practice and as you can see i'm not that experienced yet but i'm getting there!

As mentioned, it's a simple flashlight that i made for practice and i got the idea from a Blender Cookie video that i watched some time ago.

I spent about 1 - 2 hours on this model just to get a feel for Blender 3D and learn how to get a decent normal, ambient occlusion and cavity map bake out of xNormal.

Its about 1200 tris and it includes a simple diffuse map, a normal map baked with xNormal and a simple specular map. It also includes both the textured low poly model on the first layer and the untextured high poly model on the second layer.

Fell free to do what you want with it and if you somehow make the model and/or texture better i would love to see the results!

Hello! I like your flashlight very much and would like to thank you for sharing it! I have one problem though: I'd like to import it into UDK but no matter what I do, it just won't work. I've read countless tutorials and watched many videos but all I get is an empty static mesh after importing. Anyone got an idea how to get it right?

Thanks for releasing it in CC0. I plan to use it in a game mod.

The learning curve can feel steep at first, but there's something incredibly satisfying about seeing your digital creation come to life. I also started with simple objects to understand the workflow between modeling, texturing, and baking maps. Your approach of spending focused time on each aspect, from normal mapping to ambient occlusion, is exactly how I built my foundation. The 1200 triangle count shows good optimization awareness too. After long modeling sessions, I sometimes unwind with music games like Heardle to relax my mind.
