A vignette or a faded edge is a common setup of nodes in the compositor.

The new Blender compositor (released in 2.64) has more options when creating vignettes. This file will demonstrate how this can be created.

Normally in Blender the vignette is created by mis-using the lens distortion node to create an ellipse. You have limited control over the ellipse.

In the new compositor you have the Ellipse Mask Node. With this node an ellipse can be created very easily and with many control. This blend file shows you how this can be done.

This file only works with latest graphicall build or from future blender releases 2.64.
