This is a ready to use, female body basemesh with clean topology and accurate proportions. It is a perfect starting point for a higher poly model or as a sculpting basemesh.
The mesh is 100% quads with a total polycount of 1413
Modeled by Jonathan Williamson
Enjoy!
No this is actually a brand new model that I finished over the last couple days.
Amazing stuff!
With this one and the <a href="http://www.blendswap.com/blends/characters/basemeshes-male-head-and-body/" rel="nofollow">male basemesh</a> we're finally complete on the acurate, quad only, human basemeshes :D
hello you put your models up for people to learn from am I right? @cgcookie
wow, this is wonderful! Now if you only made a male character of the same style I could start my comic a tiny bit quicker by using and crediting your models. I am having a very tough time with my own model. It's coming along but super slowly with many false starts :P
Thanks! I'm glad you like it :) I'll see what I can do about making a new male base mesh as well!
thank you! This is a wonderful place you have here. If you wish to view my comic see insanityofxade.com
I linked above to this male basemesh, <a href="http://www.blendswap.com/blends/characters/basemeshes-male-head-and-body/" rel="nofollow">http://www.blendswap.com/blends/characters/basemeshes-male-head-and-body/</a> that's, I think, very compatible style wise, just in case ;)
I did notice that poifox, and it really is a nice model but just not what I have in mind for my comic. I need something similar (not exact) to the current models in the old (light purple button) comic http://insanityofxade.com Now, I know they are anime style and this is decidedly non anime, and that's okay, I am very good at modifying a mirrored mesh and already figured out what I need to do in order to make her anime, and even turn her male so the male version is not really needed, but would be icing on the cake. :)
Good topology indeed. Needs some additional work as a base model - no ears, no nails....no other details...like knee, finger, or elbow joints, I mean. Good work nevertheless...I like the shape of the body. Thanks!
That's because it's a basemesh ;) A basemesh is generally used for sculpting, at which point you would create all those extra details. However the mesh is made in such a way that you could also add in all those details with real topology fairly easil.
Now need to make a male of the same style and basic count and It'll be set. I don't fully agree with Poifox about the male base mesh, but for not it's a good start.
I totally agree, the topology of the male is good, but not nearly as good as this one :)
Hey guys, I took this model and rigged it in Autodesk Maya 2012, (sorry its not blender), I haven't read any major rules on posting links so I wont do a download link unless I get an ok for it.
hi there...THANK YOU THANK YOU so much for this one...it eases job for artist...thanks...
BTW, just a favor, if you time, and if you don't mind, will you please maka a quad basemesh, a MALE one...thanks
nice one...very nice so much appreciated
Great basemesh. :D I used it to make this model: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?282301-Tiger-skin
Thank you cgcookie for an amazing basemesh. Just one more noob will get a great start.
I used this base mesh to create my character called <a href="http://vaonom.deviantart.com/art/YonaSu-363110590?ga_submit_new=10%253A1364923117">YonaSu</a> at dA
Hi just a question, I understand that I can use this model in my game for example (after maybe some editing) but I don't understand what is required to me: "You are just required to attribute back to CG Cookie, Inc and Eat Sheep." How can achive this statement when I use this model?
Thanks to all, Daniele.
I used this for my dryad character. http://magnesium-cookie.deviantart.com/art/3D-Dryad-Archer-376587155
Is this topology considered good? Because I've download it precisely to check the topology, and it's pretty much the same as my meshes. Therefore if this is in a usable state for deformation, then I can stop modeling so many female bodies in search of good topology.
I use ur model for a Space Level with a Cobra character (like in the books of Timothy Zahn).
Very nice Modell
Looks awesome :) I was thinking of trying out a 3D model as a "poser" to help with rigging & drawing practise. Thanks!! Since I'm not a regular here, I'm going to leave a link/photo on a plane or something so I don't forget to credit you ^^
Thank you!!!!!! I'm using this model for my life drawing final...surely this will blow everyone's minds when I get the other elements and textures implemented! One thing I would like to ask is where is the rig? I have no problem putting it in myself but just wondering.
i saw your video on youtube about new BMesh modeling, and you talk there of this fimale mesh for free, thanks Jonathan ...
'Preciate the share Jonathan. It's guys like you that encourages less creatively inclined newbs like myself to get started. Thanks m8 :D
Helpful - it's really hard to find a straightforward free base sometimes. I do wish there were also a male version in the same style, though.
Hi, I'm new to Blender and every time I download a model it becomes a .zip and I cannot import that, can anyone help?
Is this the finished product from the female modelling tutorial series?
