Description:

This is an idea I had a long time ago that I wanted to visualize a little better. The basic concept is to make a sail boat / trimaran out of a 40ft and a 20ft shipping container and some bundles of PVC pipe (among other things). There is a more detailed explanation on my blog at http://minimlaintentions.com.

If anyone thinks the idea has merit and would like to suggest changes, please download and modify the blend. Sintel is thrown in to provide scale.

Including Sintel for scale may be a bit of overkill, for file size I mean. Just adding a cube man usually is sufficient.

Yea... well. I wanted to play with the sintel mesh a bit also. But yea... it is overkill.

It's an interesting concept, though. Some of your shipping containers intersect; i'd add weld lines or something similar to make it clear they're connected.

Texture maps are another thing that I still need to learn. There are several changes I am planning at this point, going to add more pipes for the pontoons. Going to add pipes under the main hull as well to reduce "pancaking"... basically break up the water so it does not slap the hull.

Definitely need to make it look dirtier... but I guess that is where texture maps come in. I assume realistic weld lines will be a texture mapping thing as well. Thanks for the suggestions.
