Description:

This is my approach to making a Shiny Metal material in Cycles. I wanted it to behave like in LuxRender, where you have a mirror base with a polish coat on it.

The left half of the render above is rendered with Cycles, the right half with LuxRender.

As I'm evaluation Lux and Cycles, the side-by-side results comparison was particularly useful. thanks for posting.

It's a little bit screwed up though because the HDRI gamma and stuff didn't really match between the two. One could do a better comparison.

You know, when you are looking for blender internal material, it's a real bummer to think you've found a nice material and then it turns out to be cycles.
