This is a collection of spaceship parts that you can use to to conceptualize any sort of space vehicle.
Added some new Hulls and components, Also added parts to the Hardpoint and Engine component layers
Layer one is your workspace,
Layer two has hull sections,
Layer three has smaller components,
Layer four has an engine builder you can use to make your own engine designs
Layer five has a collection of hardpoint objects
Layer six has some greeble type things
Layer twenty has a few example ships
Very nice indeed!
Yes, you definitely should enter this into the contest. While unconventional, it has such utility (and it's public domain; I've used the previous edition lots) and creativity that make it a great example of Blender artwork. It's not an air vehicle per se, but it could be used to create air vehicles and so it's good for the contest.
Thank you very much!. This is really GREAT stuff
@jason, there is nothing wrong with this file, no reason to re-upload it from what I see. I downloaded it and opened it just fine. I'm running Blender 2.59 also. I would try and redownload blender and open it from the fresh version and see if that works.
um nice but can u do this in 3 different views from different directions
where do u install blender
I would go to the Blender Foundation webpage or graphicall. You can find builds for nearly every system.
Awesome man. Gracias amigo. Obrigado !
Man... i was working on a futuristic city, for a probable first independent short. I was listening to star wars soundtrack... and then i opened your file. I almost cried. Wonderful work. Thank you very very much.
If by any chance the movie goes on, i will drop you some lines ! anyway, thanks in advance !
Awesome, Thanks for the sharing, its gonna help me a lot in my concept vehicle.
OMG....... You. Are. A shipmaking.... GOD!
Outstanding work! You just made my day.
Will this work with the latest Blender (2.61)?
this some sick stuff man, cheers for this, however this particular version don't work with 2.6+ but the others do, but still I've been making some robot test models with shipyard v0.6 and the results are just WOW, basic structures on my part but the possibilities are awesomely positive thanks again bro
I am able to download and open it in 2.614 without any trouble. JIMFTEW could the problem be on your end?
There really isn't much that would mess up the opening process, it's basically just straight geometry and 3 materials.
yes, it was a problem on my end all better now, awesome, thanks man.

oops unrate your comment for me can ya mate, I accidented it by accident, my bad, sorry.
It is such a pity, 4k downloads, 30 favs and only 2 comments including this one.
Matt, dude, wth? LMAO ↓
There is an "Older Comments" button where you can find the other 30 comments.
Cool job! Lots of fun with this :-)
Very inspiring work! I feel like we should make "Blend Swap the movie" set in space of course!
Nice one !
Oh wow... How did you do this !?
Thanks very much for this greyoxide. I used this to create my alien ship in my movie "Alien Obsession" :
Many thanks, it was a God send. You should have seen my previous pathetic attempts :)
Used in iPhone game
Energy Storm - an arcade game with polarity theme. (inspired by classics R-Type and Ikaruga)

Thanks again for sharing these fantastic space ship blender models.
i like this blends it very useful start modelling from somthing istead of nothing or drawing shape on a papaer to build a starship, thanks.
with the object selected (mesh/camera/lamp/empty, doesn't matter) press m and select the layer. Thats all :D
very useful thanks for sharing
Thnaks for this. looks great
The work is great and quite commendable!
Love your modeling skills and thank you for your work
Also, I took a ship from one of your older shipyards and added some lights and textures to it as well as opening doors in the cargo area (which is rigged with a single bone to open) and thought I would offer it to you if you were interested in using it or reuploading it with the new additions. Just let me know and I'll get it to you if you want it.
Really great work! Keep it going! ;)
Looks awesome! and it seems to share a shape with that of Austrailia. XD
Wonderful work, I'm a fan!
Absolutely amazing! This has saved me months of creating different fleets, although I think it could use more greebles. Can't wait until V0.8 comes!
This is absolutely brilliant - thank you so much, and please continue to develop this!
Wow! there's a lot of stuff in this blend. Very cool. I'm adding greeble via my greeble factory. http://www.blendswap.com/blends/materials/greeble-factory/ Thanks
thnx for the parts .just running through a tutorial at the mo from blender magazine issue39 building a luna landscape really appreciate you sharing your 3d models really helps boom!!
Here's the default ship all gussied up. Check it out. http://www.blendswap.com/blends/scenes/frigate-2/ peace
Excellent work! Really useful for quickly prototyping a spaceship concept.
thanks for leaving it open for others to learn and use. ;)
Hey guys kinda new to Blender, ok Very new to blender so gonna ask a newbie question. Have downloaded shipyard 0.7 (freaking awesome design btw) but I can't work out how to separate the layers when I open it up. The ship above opens in a blender file but I can't pull anything from it. Probably just me being a complete noob but can anyone help me with this?
Never mind figured it out
The objects are in different layers explained here:
Very nice, thank you, very helpful for making detailed spaceships easily, and very nice of you to post as cc0.
I love your model it very usefull for space games and models
Great work, and so much variety. It would be great however, if You could disable wire display for future iterations, as I find it makes the models harder to see. Anyway thanks for this :)!
The models are incredible, but I'm having troubles with the normals. When I export to any format, a good number of the normals on the models are kinda weird. They look perfectly fine in Blender, but in any other program/format, the normals are inverted on several random faces.
Always apply negative scales before exporting. Also applying any other modifiers and recalculating the normals prior to export may help. And check for artifacts/intersections caused by any modifiers.
Hey @whattapancake, sorry I missed your comment. Im willing to bet, your leaving "apply modifiers" checked when exporting. On 90% of the meshes I used the edge split modifier. This will almost certainly mess up the normals in another application.
And 6 months later I finally found this comment, haha. Thanks, I'll check that!
this is pretty coooool
Just a warning; if you try solidifying some of the models (or beveling), you may get some artifacting. Be sure to take a look at each piece you decide to use and edit it as necessary. I know, general advice. In any case, Shipyard is absolutely outstanding. I still can't believe someone created this and dropped it CC0. Thank you greyoxide. I'm using this for a game I'm making (Sylph) and it has been (and continues to be) invaluable.
Superb, thanks so much!
First let me say that this is an awesome kit you've pot together here. Second, I noticed that you created wire overlays by having a second identical object with a wire material occupying the same space as the solid material object. This is not a good way to do this since it can result in absolutely horrific artifacts when rendering. A better method is to set the wire material to the same object with a z-offset of around .01 or .02 and put it at the top of the material stack. Same effect but no z-fighting. Also, your render tiles were set to 180x135. They should always be square for faster rendering. This was posted a few years ago so you may have already learned these lessons but it's here for anyone else who may be having issues and not know why.
I signed up to download this and this is really great! Thanks!
This is amazing. I was speechless when I saw these detailed models. Then i saw CC Zero and jumped with joy. Thanks a billion. (I'm horrible at modeling)
This is the best thing I've ever seen on blendswap. A BUILD YOURSELF SPACESHIP FILE. AWESOME!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this.
Am I right that this version includes (supersedes) all your previous versions? It's hard when I have to wait another month for more Blendswap downloads :)
Thank you so much for this! I'm building my own ship (for my scifi story), and it would be an impossible task without all this amazing material you've provided! My only suggestion is if you could add more symmetrical shapes (like the hexagonal tube), e.g. Alcubierre drive rings, various types of domes, rotating habitat modules, for people like me who like to build symmetrical ships; it would enable an even wider range of ship designs as well as making it possible to build space stations and habitats. Awesome work!
can you re upload the file in zip not in htlm
Hmmm... doesn't seem to work properly in Blender 2.8 - can't bring up all the parts from different layers to visibility :-( Unless I'm plain doing something wrong?
I just tried this in Blender 2.79, and could not find anything except the one big example ship shown in the screenshot above. I am not familiar with Blender layers yet, so could easily be doing something wrong
Are you going to update this for blender 2.81?
2 years late and all but for those who can't get it to work... Change the editor type to outliner (or split the menu on the right side in half and add it) then toggle the "disable in viewports" filter to on (the icon that looks like a computer monitor) then do whatcha gotsta do. You could also start a new file and append all the meshes/collections, but my guess is you'll still have to toggle that disable in viewports filter. ✌️✌️
