Description:

Originally released as a Lightwave mesh in 2005, this model of Enterprise by Dennis Bailey is sitting at 14k polygons.

Textures originally mapped with generated coordinates with cylindrical projection didn't work with the new Cycles engine, so I had to unwrap UVs and map textures accordingly.

As Dennis Bailey intended when he released this mesh back in 2005, I wish this model remains in Public Domain status and thus release it under such license. As to quote Dennis Bailey here > "It’s my intention that this release be treated as public domain – do as you will with it. I ask two favors: one, that any version or conversion of the mesh retain the signature modeled into it, and two that you credit me as the modeler on any work you do with it."

Readme is included in the .blend text editor. Enjoy this model.

Wow - this takes me back to when I converted this mesh way back in the days of the old Star Trek Blender website. Looks incredible, but I've noticed a few issues with the panels on the underside of the saucer. (The original LW mesh had some conversion errors I had to manually correct when I did it nearly 20 years ago)

Hello there! Thank you for converting the mesh all those years back! It was your conversion, that sadly broke after blender 2.8(still a beauty in 2.79b and under), that prompted me to track down the original and make conversion myself.

On the panels, I'll have to investigate further.

@greenjinu04 - I've been working on an edit of your version to try and correct the mesh conversion errors, as well as a few material corrections, applying Auto-Smoothing to various objects. If you'd like to reach out, perhaps we can coordinate. (guitarec@gmail.com)

Hi, I'm soon going into military service, so I won't be able to coordinate with you. But thank you for taking time to edit my version. Really appreciate it.

The readme inside the Blender file mentions three sets of registries, however, I am only seeing the one set for the NCC-1701, and it appears to be modeled and not easily changed through textures. Am I missing something?

It is not you that is missing things, it's me. I just converted the one with NCC-1701 registry.

The readme just serves as an insight to what the original author said/intended with this mesh years ago.
