Hi, I am still learning how to make models like this so would love to pick your brain with some questions if that's ok? Feel free to ignore them, the work is great :)
Thanks for your time in advance :)
Thanks for the compliments, plummeraptor!
So, for the nuts i pretty much just selected a bunch of faces, insetted them and then used loop tools to turn them into circles. Sometimes i had some overlapping faces, so i reconnected some verts here and there. Then just extruding and insetting to get the rest of the shape ^^
Yes there are some Ngons, but as long as they dont cause anyshading issues / are not deforming in anyway, its okay to use them. If you are making a movie quality asset tho, everything has to be quads or tris if absolutely necessary (check my asset library if you wanna see a few examples ;3 )
for the threads in the barrel, i juse made the shape linear at first (normal cilinder, then extrude it as you want), and for the twisting i used a simple deform modifier with the mode set to twist.
hi can I use this in a non-profit short film that does not make profit?
you are welcome to use this in any project (even profit making ones) if you credit me properly (Put my name in the credits/description). Also, make sure to send me a link to your project so i can check out your awesome project!
sure! just put my name somewhere in the credits and shoot me a link to your finished project! ^^
That model looks clean, especially considering the triangle count, and it already feels like something that could fit into a fast paced game environment. Details like this really matter for immersion, whether it is a shooter or even stylized arcade style projects. The same attention to visuals and balance is important in the casino space, where presentation strongly affects how players perceive a slot and its potential win. Even when the mechanics are simple, clear visuals and well tuned odds make a big difference in how engaging the experience feels. I have noticed similar design choices on platforms like Chicken Road where visuals, pacing, and odds are all part of keeping players interested. Whether it is a weapon model or a casino game, strong design paired with balanced odds always improves the overall experience.
really nice compliments
