Did this candle light just for fun, but I was keeping in mind this might be useful for real things, so after I made a procedural egg texture, I turned it into a candle light, which can be animated: https://youtu.be/lM3Xe9KrSlg
Note: this was made in 30 mins, so keep in mind this is just for demo purpose. You can make it look way more realistic, if you know what you're doing.
Thank you! I think I need to give a credit for the egg formula I used to this image I found using Google Images: http://www.mathematische-basteleien.de/ei35.gif It's from this page http://www.mathematische-basteleien.de/eggcurves.htm I modified it a little to turn it into a 3-dimensional egg shape, wasn't too hard. Then I just stretched it out by Z axis and applied some noise distortion and color grading.
A lot of natural patterns can be replicated using Ken Perlin Noise. When I first saw 1D Perlin Noise output, I thought it looks just like a landscape! Oh wait, it looks like a cloud! Oh no, it looks like a best lightning texture! In fact, recently I created a lightning texture using Perlin Noise function in Blender using the same procedural volumetric emission workflow. hey zach whats your discord? kinda gotta ask u some blender stuff
Nice job. I never knew that you can make a realistic flame using volumetrics.
