Description:

Al is an unlikely hero ready for your next project. He sports a slick spacesuit and ray-gun, arms and legs have ik support, and the rig is has facial controls with dynamic wrinkle maps and sliders for phenomes.

I like seeing what people do with the assets I make, If you send me a link to the stuff you make with them, I'd appreciate it a lot!

Hey this looks fantastic! I'm using it in a project visualising games for a gameshow. This may sound super cheeky but is there any way you can add a 5th finger to each of the hands?

Thanks for checking out the rig!

Hmm, well that might take a bit of work. I'll see what I can do, but I don't know if I can without reworking the topology of the hands, and messing up the textures and bone weights.

I'll take a look at this tonight. I'm not sure if I can, but If I do end up reworking the hand, I'll update the blend and send you a message. If I can't, I hope the rig can be useful to your project in spite of that. :)

Of course no worries if it's too big a job! Will still be useful no matter what. Cheers!

Hm I'm not sure. What version of blender are you using? The file was made with version 2.77 that might be an issue.

Is anyone else having the same issue?

Yes, same here. That's why I returned to the comments here, to see if I was the only one. My current Version is 2.77 from March-18. While loading, the program gets stuck with the gorgeous hourglass as the reward.

Hmm I'll see if I can get access to a clean blender install and see If I can find the problem. I'll write back on this thread once I figure it out.

One more question, are you opening the file by double clicking in explorer, or opening through blender's internal file browser? Try opening in blender and uncheck 'Load UI' on the left side of the window.

Yes, that was the trick that's done it for me. Untick the box "load UI" and tick the box thereunder "Trusted Source". (But I haven't had the time to play or study your model; too busy with other projects. )

If that fixed it, I'll change the layout to the default and then reupload the file!

Very nice job man :) At first, it loads on win 7 64 bit blender v 2.76 without any problem, for me. Please do not change the fingers, perhaps clone the model as addition, because i like four fingers ^^ I try to use your nice char in my small ue4 game https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjZ3_DVcng21wpm-Ri53mGA/videos I think it could fit very well, what do you think? Kind regards :)

Thanks for checking out the model!

The regular weight based rig controls should work just fine in any engine. I know Unity doesn't natively import animated Shape Keys (Blend Shapes), so you may have some slight issues with facial animations if you use the phoneme sliders or adjust the eyeball / brow shape. I personally don't have any experience with UE4, so I'm not sure that engine handles it, might be just fine.

Also you may find that the antenna on the head might be a bit too low poly. I might suggest that you apply 1 singular level of subdivision on just the head to make it look nicer. (the body should be perfect without subdivision, as I created a normal map for it).

Let me know how it works out!

OH I forgot about this. I'll provide an update soon. If not today, then tomorrow. In the meantime did you try the "uncheck 'Load UI' on the left side of the window." trick?

I can export to obj too but many of the rigs features will be lost.
