Yet another wood shader, but this comes with a twist: I decided to start a blog, and this shader is the result of my very first tutorial! It's a multi-part tutorial with a lot of explanation of the details. If you'd like to learn about one way to make wood in Cycles, I invite you to check out my blog to make this shader yourself! I welcome any feedback on the tutorial, but please don't clog up blendswap with comments here...send me email via the "sizzler@" link on my website!
If you're not interested in learning then please just download this shader and use it as you wish. Otherwise I look forward to seeing more great wood shaders from the community.
As always, the material ball is from JC Levet (although I modified the scene to remove stuff that is out of camera, removed bubbles in the glass, and the subsurf indicators): http://www.blendswap.com/blends/materials/galvanized-steel-shader/
Thanks, Astro1derboy! Hope you learned something and I'd love to see you create a new shader using my ideas. The beauty of wood is there are so many variations and hundreds of types that you can make!
I get an error when trying to download this blend. Not an error by Blendswap, but by Chrome. It says "84699_Cycles_procedural_Wood_-_Rad_Oak_Tutorial.zip.html Fehler - keine Datei", which would be in English: " [...] Error - no file"
Hi maddes8cht, I just tried to download using Chrome and it works for me. I noticed that my filename is "Blend_84699_ea1ad652.zip" which is different from yours. Maybe something was wrong with Blendswap? Have you tried again?
Someone else told me they had the same issue, so I re-uploaded the blend file. Let me know if it still doesn't work!
Nice read, the article explains things clearly and is easy to follow. Flexible options like slot make gameplay more practical, while fast-paced titles such as spaceman add a different kind of excitement. Meanwhile, slot777 and slot88 stand out for their simple mechanics and consistent play experience.
Quite a thorough and systematic approach . . . which yields fantastic results. Thanks for sharing (and for the explanations on your blog)!
