A Mars Sojourner Rover, based on the first NASA Mars rover. It is a small solar powered rover with an antenna and a drill arm. It has six wheels on a specially designed mobility system that can adjust to rough terrain as well as pack and unpack itself for transport.

The rover model itself is 9912 polygons. The components are setup hierarchically so that they can be moved and rotated correctly for positioning and animating.

I designed this model with freestyle rendering in mind so freestyle edges have been setup, but it can also be used with freestyle turned off.

I created this model and all of the textures myself. It was based on reference photos of the Mars rovers but is not an exact reproduction, my version is simpler and leaves out several details. The textures for the solar panels and the wheels were created in Inkscape.

This is the second of my Mars models, I have more in progress but these are the first two that have reached a point where I feel they are good enough to share.

Feel free to use this model and modify it however you wish. If you use it, a shout out would be nice but is not necessary. I am a hobbyist modeler so I realize my models are not perfect, if you have any comments about how I could improve let me know.
