Under the "File" drop-down menu, there is a sub-category called "External Files". In there, there is an option called "Pack into .blend File". It puts all of the external data (like textures, reference images, etc.) into the file, so that they'll be there when the file is transferred to another computer that may not have the images there.
Its a pretty good model, but the textures are not packed into the file.
