Description:

a nice garden scene using cycles. I tried to get the structure as close as possible to stone. I let you be the judge of that. This was modeled from a picture that I have taken.

Stone balustrades are always effective, whether in real life or in illustrations and whether painted or unpainted. There's just something about them that's so appealing. These and the building behind look suitably weathered. Well done.

It looks like some kind of church or primary school. Please could you tell me a little about the building and where it is located?

Also, I see you were a Maya instructor. Although I'm not interested in using Maya, I am interested in how you find the capabilities and ease of use of Blender compared with Maya, just for modelling purposes, not counting rendering.

Using Blender was a struggle at the beginning but as time goes on you pick it up. The picture is from a building in Selby Garden in Sarasota, Florida. Looking back on the image there are a lot of things to could be enhanced. I guess that could be said about looking back on any work that has done over a distance past. Life is a continuously learning process.

Maya has it own set of rules that you can learn over a given time. I use to be asked often, which software is the best? I find it is not the software but the person setting at the keyboard that makes the different. It's a matter of devoting a lot of time and energy toward a end goal.. The render in Maya is better but Maya has been around for quite sometime whereby Blender is somewhat new. As for modeling, Blender is as good as Maya. Maya has updated it modeling in this past revision but that was done thou purchasing the right company not hard work by the developers. Autodesk has done a lot of that over the years..

You speak a lot of truth. One first has to decide if something is worth striving for and then according to priorities, dedicate as much time as possible to reaching each milestone.

Blender is definitely worth it in my book.

Thanks for the info on the model.
