Okay, I'm a geek. I know it. But it seems to me that creating a decent looking Warp Core shouldn't be that hard (For non-geeks, that would be the big blue glowing thingy in a Star Trek engine room ). And yet... I can't quite get it nailed down. The actual modeling is pretty easy (although available reference pics are fantastically crappy). But the glowing/animated part is driving me nuts. I've tried spotlights, halo particles, animated textures, node setups, etc. It's just frustrating the crap out of me... maybe someone else has the skills? I'd be much appreciative.
