In this post we warned all those users who registered with dummy/temporary emails, before version 5 was released, about the sure chance they'd lose their accounts because they'd have to reset their password after the big update was done. Thad day has come and gone and those who remained oblivious of this fact are locked out forever. We're sorry this happened but we warned you months ago. Now there's no way those users can prove those accounts are theirs and so those accounts are lost forever. Sorry.

We know a lot of our users use bogus emails. Don't deny it, we know you do, whether it's to make multiple accounts (which we also know you do) or just to eliminate junk email.

However, when we switch to Version 5 of the site everyone will have to reset their passwords, so if your using a temp email, you won't get the link to do that and your account will be lost.

So make sure your email is a permanent, valid one! If you used a temporal email when you registered, please log in and follow the links in the red notices to update your email, or lose your account forever when we update. You can use this link: http://www.blendswap.com/wp-admin/profile.phpto update your email address.

Awesome... Wat changes does Version 5 have?

Cool :D Can't wait to see what the changes are :)

Tons of changes in Ver 5, can't really let any out of the bag now, I think we've talked about some on our facebook page but you'd have to go digging for them. Trust me, you guys will be blown away. Cheers.

ok, i know the info about the new version is a secret and all, but when it comes out, the stuff we have up already, the blends, and whats fav. will that be completely wiped out and have to upload it all over again???

heh, it's funny and kinda freaky to me that you called them, "temporal" email accounts, as that very word is part of my online identity and isn't used much in normal conversation. Funny how we can second guess what should be blatantly obvious when a coincidence happens to be specific enough. (and yes, this is my only account, and a real, though not my only, email is attached. I've never maxed out the download limit of only two uploaded files, but I suppose I can see why a really impatient person might make multiple accounts.)

looking forward to v5!

@Shadowfoxqx, all info will port over to Version 5, all favorites, blends, comments. Everything will be there when we go live. Or it should be. LOL

I hope you get a better search engine. I searched for "iron man" and the first thing that pops up is a toaster. The first iron man is second from the bottom of the page.

The good one is at the bottom of page 4 next to some beer bottles.

We will indeed have much better search ;)

can blendswap make a free torrent download for big files ? or for all files ..

Lots of people have more than one "real" email account (and probably have several they don't even realize like @sf.net, etc., etc.) so could make multiple accoutns with those just as easily. Making a "version change" just to punt "fake" email addresses is futile. The really savvy ones will also use proxies to make their IP numbers even differ when using multiple accounts. Again. Futile.

Making a new version (not quoted cos it's actually a new version) is not for the sake of catching these emails. The fact that those accounts will lose their access to the site is just a side effect of making the new version, because security and password encryption will change and so the old passwords won't work any more, this is why you should reset your email now, so you can reset your passwor when the new version is brought to life.

Blend Swap 5 was written from scratch and you will notice it's not a marketing or naming thing when it hits the web ;)

Hope that clears the confusion.

How do you put your blender file on BlendSwap! (How do you swap somthing)

Damn.... When that appens, we have to go through all the blends again to re-add our favorites?? ...

Nope everything should port over from this site, all comments, models, favorites, etc. It's should be a clean port.

It should be against the rules to use fake e-mail addresses, anyway.
