Description:

First typewriter on blendswap? Modeled in blender 2.78 and textured in substance painter version 2. A few of the materials are 1K but mostly 2K images. A quick little project and I'd thought I'd share it.

You'll probably want to adjust the material values as the bump is quite strong.

Nice model but I think you over did it on texturing unless it's been at the bottom of the ocean since the 1920's. Just my opinion but I think it would be more interesting if it looked like you just found it in an old attic--dusty and faded a bit.

I do enjoy "over doing it" and that is probably a sign of my novice-ness, you are right. For the scene I made it for this is just what I needed because the camera won't focus on it very closely. It can be so easy to make the thing look like trash with substance painter. Where as before I started texturing in substance painter my stuff was too neat or too perfect. Finding the fine balance is part of the chore. Still I agree and I'll upload this file in the future with an alternate model sitting next to it.

I like the extreme texturing. It reminds me of something from Fallout.
