Description:
Customizable puzzle, will suit for any aspect ratio image. But you'll need to do some handwork after setting dimensions of your puzzle.

In modifiers panel, set arrays count to serve your needs, then apply both array modifiers.

Go to edit mode, press ctrl+tab+2 to activate edge select mode, then with circle select tool (C) in each pair of puzzles conjunctions select one of them and press ctrl+e -> clear sharp. Repeat process for borders. (See screenshot if description is confusing)

Now you can enable proportional editing (O) and add some variatoins to your puzzles form. Careful, don't distort edges of the puzzle.

Time to unwrap model with U -> Unwrap (or Project from view if you like it most)

After all you can apply EdgeSplit modifier, separate each puzzle piece into its own object with P -> By loose parts, and recentering origin points with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+C

Now puzzle is ready to animate
