I made this with suggestions from a lot of new users in a google blender community. I started with a basic model and asked eveyone in the community to give me suggestions as to what they would do, what they would add to the model to make it look better. A lot of new users offered up suggestions and enjoyed the process. I did it mostly because I wanted to help inspire new blender users. I have come to know that there are a few, if only a few, blener users that are not as considerate of the feelings of others, particularly new users. For those of us that were once new, we should remember that new users needs guidance and help and they should be made to feel comfortable about showing what they are doing even if their first render is not as detailed as something Andrew Price would make for example. Blender is still fighting to become a mainstream program and the only way that is going to happen is if we support each other and blender, not to mention, I hate bullies. I am a very nice guy but, never mistake nice for weak. I am no pro using blender but I am getting better and I will always remember those who helped me and I will always remember those who didn't. Keep supporting each other and offering constructive but friendly critics on projects that people are showing. Happy Blending!
Textures are from plaintextures.com and it is done in cycles at 1000 samples. Took about five minutes to render each image.

Written May 11, 2014Thank you very much for that compliment. I don't normally make it a habit of creating science fiction type blends but this one was special and had purpose driving it's creation. I'll likely stay firmly planted on the ground, on earth...lol I lend more to medieval, fantasy type renders which is my wheel house. On occasion I do like to extend into areas that I often am too afraid to enter for the sake of un-boxing myself. I think the best way to improve is to challenge not only each other but ourselves for the sake of the craft of using blender. One of my favorite expressions is; "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

Written May 12, 2014well, I think that you nailed it, with the model and with the inspiration part. whenever I see that ship to many ideas pop in my head, cogs start to turn (how did he do that? how can I do this...etc etc...). it's so cool that you have let others join in creation process and that's what I love about blender community. a lot of people willing to help, give suggestions and constructive criticism.
great modeling and texturing, small details are all over the place yet don't feel cluttered. it's a great job you did, my good man!

Written May 19, 2014I didn' see this blend, it is very nice, it reminds me of Darkstar one ship. And also Amen to what you have just said about Blender and Beginners. I am still a beginner and I really thanks the community for helping me, specially with blendswap and you too. I remember you gave me some very helpfull links about how to make rust and fluid simulation. Keep going !!!!

Written June 06, 2014Great work in helping the newbies. Great modelling and texturing as always from your models. It's very different kind of model but wow the detail you manage to get into it. My only suggestion would be to put it in space, a starfield with a nice nebula or something. Again respect for helping people to get into and appreciate what Blender can do.

Written June 26, 2014Nice blend, but the message is better, I agree with you, helping the new ones is a task we all should practice, I like to help the people, but i'm not the best, but in my possibilities, I will always help the new artists , because when I was new to blender, many people helped me and I think the best way to thank them is to do the same they did with me, so keep going, you're a good blender artist but also a good person.

Written November 29, 2016Hello blenderjunky, I'm inspired by you work. its actually great that you are one of those people that will help others the reach their artistic potential, using blender. I'm new in blender. it turned out that blender is exactly what I needed for my film business to ever start after I had it for 10 years not knowing what to do with it. from everyone in blender, I've seen things that I could only dream about. creativity and the determination of people just opened a new world of possibilities. I've been trying to start a film business for over 10 years and every time, the programme to bring my stories to motion pictures was a dead end. since I gave my time to blender and followed the tutorials of the most amazingly talented people on line. I have seen the possibilities of my film empire realised. just as other blender artists, will ask to use your work in almost all my moving pictures to establish my course. of cause, you may demand what you want. and id love to know the cost of you trouble and I will do to the extend I can to benefit you guys as I will be learning from you too. as of this moment, my business is not started. I just started teaching people about how to film and how we should do this whole thing and succeed. every time, I learn useful stuff from blender nation and the tutorials on line. thanks to you and all of the people in the blender nation.
