Description:

I was inspired to create curve trim profiles after seeing storrboy's Trims and Mouldings 1 file. By using curves, with vector interpolation, you can quickly and easily trim all your architectual projects, currently this file only has 29 profiles, but I plan to add more, as I have time, and find profiles online.

I'm trying to figure out how to use these trim profiles for picture frames as well, but currently they all are rotated the wrong way, and rotating them messes them up for use as trim in a room.

I've put the trim profiles on layer two, and have a sample room on layer one, with a simple cycles setup.

Shamelessly copied profiles from Good Millwork, a now non-existing website, I got the pictures from Flikr, which I hope isn't against any rules, and no I do not work for them, never heard of them before I did a google image search for trim profiles.

All the profiles have their names visible, to make it easier for you to figure out what is what, this can be turned off in the object panel, under visibility.

@illmortem: Yes, I think you must be right, it's goodsmillwork.com, because goodmillwork.com is only a domain for sale (and worse still, requires JavaScript to be enabled).

@FayZee if you're browsing the web without JS enabled you're just doing it wrong LOL.

I think the company might not exist any more, as I copied their URL directly from the image I found. They are/were located in Florida. The images were from 06/02/09, lots can happen in four years.

@BrianHanson: If you plan to add more profiles to this blend (ID 71334) how will I know you have done so? May I be cheeky and ask that if you produce more then you will upload a new blend file as set 2?!

Profiles are great to use as picture and mirror frames. And surely it doesn't matter which way they are rotated in your blend, since once they are converted to mesh you can rotate them at will? Or did you encounter some other problem?

I actually just added about a dozen new ones, not really sure how this all works with Blendswap, as I just uploaded the new file, so not sure if they show versions or if I just need to wait for the new file to be approved by an admin. Depending how how the whole update process works I might just do it in sets, say every twenty five or something, and then once I'm finished making them I could do one file that has everything in it.

The rotation doesn't really matter too much, as it's easy enough to change, but I wasn't converting to mesh at all, rather just using a curve circle which I changed the intrpolation to vector and rotated 45 degrees to get a square and then used a profile for the bevel object, this allowed me to create frames super quickly. However if I wanted to use a profile for trim in the room and a frame I'd have to duplicate it and rotate the curve, in edit mode, to actually get the rotation I wanted.

ah, and as far as knowing when I update this file, you could subscribe to the Blender RSS on my blog, http://nathansalapat.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default/-/Blender, and then whenever I update this file I'll post about it, of course the downside, if we want to call it that, is you'll also get updates about all my tutorials and other Blender stuff I post.

switch to top ortho, in Edit Mode, press Alt+R

it spins based on YOUR view, so top view to spin 180 degrees around.
