Here is my small contribution to the science-fiction competition organized by the site Blender Guru.
This work is a first try to robotic character design. This character is a mix between well known robots from movie with a slighty more feminized look. I created a rig to easily pose and animate the character.
Scene organization:
Layer 1 : hull
Layer 2 : articulations and wires
layer 3 : screens
layer 4 : eyes
layer 5 : rig
layer 6 : Animation proxy.
Fantastic, as usual.... I am a fan of your work.
Thanks for sharing. Blenjoy..
Am I the only one noticing that this is a fusion between Midna from Zelda and EVE from Wall-E? Nice work, either way! Beautiful model and nice fusion!
I'm failing to see where he comes in, but that could be because I've always had my own idea of his looks, I never really accepted the movie version ;) Edit: I did some googling and I see it now!
While making a walk cycle, I tried to paste the pose buffer flipped across the x axis (ctrl shift v) but it gives a completely different and wonky result. Is this due to constraints you've set?
It appears to mainly affect the IK sections, hands and feet. mirroring the fingers seems to work. Not sure about the shoulders, mirrored those manually.
Looks like a cross between EVA from Wall-E and Midna from The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
I love the modeling - she has a lot of character.
I'm wondering if I can get some help; I can't for the life of me find a way to turn off IK on the arms. I managed to edit the original file a little to create a group for linking into a new file to animate from, but everything I've tried to do to use FK for the arms has failed.
I was also wondering if you used Rigify for the rigging, as I saw Blender trying, well actually refusing, to load rig_ui.py
from the linked file. I appended it to my animation file and ran it, but I didn't see that anything changed - there's no UI...
Was anyone able to get this working in Unity? I spend some hours trying to get it to T-pose and export to FBX correctly, but I'm not having luck. It's such a cool model -- I wanna use it for a game jam!
Hi there! I just downloaded your robot girl to test some shaders on. She is awesome! Can I send you some renders?
Cheers,
Paul C
Love it , thank you :)
