A Trek-based vessel of my own design. I call this a Sagan-Class ship, because I don't think that name's been taken yet. For the geeks: This is a TOS/TNG hybrid, built around 2350 (between the years of Kirk and Picard). The saucer is largely based on the Ambassador class vessels, while some of the lines are more Excelsior-style. The nacelles are basically stolen from the Enterprise-D, but modified a bit.
All of the windows are actually cut out of the model (not textured). This proccess took FOREVER, but I think the result is worth it. Lighting grid for windows is on layer 2, in case someone wants to play with the compositor.
Final poly count is ~130K faces.

I love Star trek ships, and I love the name that you give to this ship, great work ;)

You're a modelling machine Kuhn. Lots of detail as usual. Its usually annoying to see lots of tris etc in an otherwise brilliant mesh, but I completely understand why you did that.
Great job!

Yeah, I could have done it without the triangles, but the poly count would have gone way up. When I'm trying to choose, I usually ask myself how likely it is that I'll need to loop cut anything later on. In this case, it wasn't going to happen so I went with triangles.

if is hi-poly if you give to it simple material it whill look good even if no texture on it,it is nice

Damn Chris, another great model, I think you can take the "Amateur 3D Artist" out of your bio, it no longer fits. Great work and thanks for sharing with us.

I played around with adding glow to the various parts of this model and put together a camera tour which can be viewed here:
Thanks again for the model, it is nice to play around with a quality mesh.

Really cool, dude. That was an awesome video. You've got some skills...

I'd love to know how you did the fantail, and I'd love to see you do another tutorial book, I bought your rocketbike book.
KuhnIndustries
Hey,
I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the term "fantail"... I'm assuming it's a nautical term, because I tried looking it up on Google and got pictures of birds :) Are you talking about the arch on the underside of the drive section? That was done with the knife tool. I just positioned a circle behind it and used it as guide to cut the arch into the hull. Actually, I believe that technique is in the Rocket Bike book, since you have it. Just search the text for "Knife".
I don't think I'm going to do another book, but I am doing a DVD. It should be up in the next couple of months.
Thanks!
