This model has a total poly count of about 7.5k (including the inside of the mouth and throat). Eyes, mane and tail are separate geometry which make up about 3.5k of total poly count. It's part of a model pack that includes a cow which is also available on Blendswap at http://www.blendswap.com/blends/animals/cow/ As with the cow I've kept this upload small so as not to max out blendswap users weekly data quota. This model is also available in a free textured version including 2k Color, Normal and AO maps which can be downloaded from my website http://www.download.lyndondaniels.com/ranchers/ Attribution is not necessary but is appreciated :)

Howdy Partner!
Thanks for the models and textures. All of my postings are CC 0 because I feel strongly about giving back to the community that has helped me to progress.
I'm not sure of the motivation of those who want credit for their work. Certainly they put in a lot of time and effort, but Blender is open source and I think the models produced should be as well unless you are in a commercial environment.
Keep up the good work.

This is a nice model! As for giving credit I like to give credit anytime I use a model even if they don't require it. I think there is nothing wrong with someone asking for credit. I'm not saying I always give credit but I try to. And I always give it if they ask.

Howdy Partner :) Interesting opinion, although I can't say that I haven't considered it before. I believe that open source is an attempt at representing the concept of freedom in the digital era, and by creating a rule such as Blender is open source therefore models created with it should be too, in my opinion leans more towards restrictive behaviour rather than an attempt at achieving freedom. I also don't think that freedom in any way should only be limited to open source media. For example why not also say that all models produced in commercial 3D software cannot be free (in terms of money or freedom)? Some of my models are CC0, some are CC-BY-NC-SA and some of my models are sold in commercial environments, I think my intentions are clear about what I hope to achieve when I choose a specific license for a particular model. Like I said, in this case you don't have to attribute me and I'm well aware of the implications of the licensing criteria that I choose, and in this particular instance I chose CC0 because I did not want to restrict the usage of this model. I hope that paints a clearer picture, of where I'm coming from? Thanks for the comment :)

Very nice model. Thank you for sharing it.
About credit and licensing, I think: "Less is More!"
First if you don't want to share it then sell it. If you share with restriction, people usually use it as a testing model and likely will not use it in a final product because they don't want to deal with licensing problem. On the other hand, people will use the model without restriction for testing and in final product. If they're success, your model and you (the creator) will not be forgotten. Besides, if people don't want to give you credit you can't force them. If your model is great, and people want to give you credit they will do that without asking.
Thanks again for sharing.

Great file. Would you be willing to make a saddle to go along with this horse file? Thanks.
