8 month ago, i presented a VFX shot about a Black Hawk on my Vimeo Page and I got alot of feedback in different ways on Blendernation. But now, 8 month after i completed this shot i will share the model without Textures. I simply converted the mesh from Houdini to Blender with simple Cycles Materials. The Time is right to build very good VFX shots with Blender the latest build was best ever released so feel free to use it. But don't forget my name;)

if you are like to know wich VFX shot i mean: Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/28488890

ciao

wow what the heck?! thats so awesome and is that the Black Hawk from " Black Hawk Down " ?

no its not from black hawk down... but i made a shot, with footage from a friend of mine wich serve at the german forces in afganistan.

buts its the type of helicopter wich was used on the operation in somalia, wich you can see in the Movie Black Hawk Down

Awesome model and video, congrats!

I realize that the model was converted from Houdini, but the entire model is triangulated. Is there a quad-only version? I'm very interested in seeing how the model was originally constructed.

Even so, it's a fantastic model. Very detailed! Love it!

There is no Quad only version, in Houdini you work better with triangles sometimes...so i converted it month ago... second thing is..in Houdini it was only one Model with alot of Groups and Animation Groups and rigs in it. Alot of Parts are coming from Sketch up, so my Decission was to Convert all to triangles. Sometimes its hard to understand for not Houdini users. But in Houdini you can do all rigs moving parts and so on, in one single mesh.

i hope its good..if you like to get a quad version you have to build it new^^

Ok, I was just curious. I have no knowledge of how Houdini works. Still, it's an awesome model! Well done!

Ps and even Sketch up was only a Converting Programm to convert real construction data.

Thats awesome, I would love to see ya texture that!!

Cool model! FYI a fair amount of the normals are facing the wrong way.

yeah thats because of export from sketchup... but..its no problem for cycles rendering.

Your a sick minded individual! Good work!
