This is a MK II Viper from the new(er) Battlestar Galactica series.

I intended to make an exact replica of the ones on the show. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a 'correct' Viper. There were differences between the full-scale mock ups and the CG ships... there were even differences between the different mock-ups (and the different CG ships!). Some don't appear to have thrusters in the nose, for instance. The side avionics package looks different from model to model, too. Even the cockpit interiors differ from one ship to the next. So I did my best to 'average' the features (or pick the coolest ones). I had access to some great reference photos of an actual mock up in the TV studio. Most of the avionics and cockpit detailing on the model is based on those pics. There were a few places where I 'improvised', but on the whole it's a very accurate model.

The textures are decent, although not fantastic... if you are a pro with textures you may want to re-do them.

The thrust vanes are rigged to expand/contract with the motion of a controlling empty. Each thruster blade has a "locked track constraint to pivot on the appropriate axis. I mention this because it might not be intuitively obvious when you open the file.

I think that's about it... Enjoy.

Note to BlendSwap staff: I previously uploaded a MK II Viper model on this site. This current one is far better, so feel free to remove the old one. Thanks!

Very nice model. I particularly like the engine glow effect...

I added some lights and stuff to it, but that's the base picture. Hope it's useful.

Really nice model. I converted to cycles and made a quick scene: http://www.pasteall.org/pic/53206
