Simple skull and teeth with displacement and color maps modeled in Blender and sculpted in Zbrush. Scene is setup for render in Cycles. Enjoy!

Thank you very much for this fantastic model :)

You have put a lot of work into this. Thanks for the share :D

Looks good, but I'm not seeing any of the normal maps. how many polys were in the sculpt?

Thanks Edgar! Yeah I only included displacements because cycles doesn't support normal maps yet, I should have included them anyways though. You can download theme from here though:

There were 4.876 million polys at the highest sub level for the sculpt. Thanks

"Simple skull and teeth with displacement and color maps modeled in Blender and sculpted in Zbrush. Scene is setup for render in Cycles. Enjoy!" this is not simple This is epic! Btw can i use this to make the Crystal Skull!

Thanks Dannyryu! Yeah go ahead and use it for whatever you want.

Happy Blending!

Thank you. I've added your model to my collection with plesure. Well done.

It's normal if I open your blend file "as is" in Blender 2.61-rc1 some node of shader are not pluged in and the results when I press render is a black skull without displacement on a White Background ? Btw , great job !

Hi Cole very impressive work, I'm testing Cycles at the moment and Normal maps are working the build I'm using is: 2.60.7 r42469 Pretty sure its the Test build Ton wanted everybody to play with, but may be a different one as have been playing with quite a few from graphicall.org

Hope this helps

hi, bandwidth used up? won't let me download it. is there another way to get this? thx

Hi guys thanks for all the great comments! Just wanted to let everyone know that when I setup this scene I was using an older version of cycles so some things wont work properly in newer versions (normal maps for example). I'm currently working on updating the blend so that everything is compatible with the latest version of cycles (2.61rc1) and will upload an updated blend as soon as I can. I'm also working on creating a scene for render with blender internal and will upload that as a separate blend as well. Thanks again for all the great feedback!

I have imported the model in my OpenGL engine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5x9op9xEf0

I'm using back-face culling and tested environment reflection and refraction with it.

now that is what i call a brilliant model, it looks very realistic, good job!!

Remember those low poly skulls in halo.... Imagine this in their place. LOL!

Looks so real! Best skull made in blender!

I'm trying to simulate a pile of skulls using this model, but it won't show up in the game engine. Any ideas?

I'm trying to set this skull up in a scene, but it won't render with it's given materials. All I get is a glossy skull, basically. None of the normal maps or diffuse mapping is working. Any clue as to why? I've used a pre-BMesh and post-BMesh Win7-x64 build of 2.62, and I get the same results regardless.

You have to save the images from blender to your harddrive before it will work and reload them into the node editor to work.

Very realistic and incredibly detailed. If I ever need a skull for something, I know which one I'm using!

Used it in this animation I did as a personal "for-fun" project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQyvdvZuUjU

This maybe a silly question, but does anyone know why the skull looks pink when I render it in Cycles? I have had this problem with other blend files from Blendswap. Could someone please let me know what may be causing this.

Hey guys, how you do that ? because I am a newbie... ;)

Open the packed .blend, go into "File"-->"External Data"-->"Unpack Into Files" and select where you want the textures to go. You may have to go into the Cycles nodes and point to the new location, but that's about all you'll have to do.

corrupted file, the download does not work

Works perfectly for me @hfloresu, see it this helps. http://www.blendswap.com/issues/

Nice model, and nice license. Good, very realistic.

I found very realistic earning very good work

I think this file is broken in newer Blender versions. I'm getting a matte black skull. Nothing like in the preview image. The textures are packed and the node setup looks correct to me.

I have the same issue in Blender 2.64... textures are not showing its purple.

@Demian @Hrafn, works fine for me in 2.64a. Not sure what the issue is on your side.

wow. Just wow.

How many polys is this? 40k, unlikley... 400k?

thank you for such a high quality model

Awesome model, I used it here: http://aad345.deviantart.com/art/Almost-There-BTTB-348497343?q=gallery%3Aaad345&qo=0
